Are natural body washes different from regular ones?
The main difference you'll notice with a natural body wash is that it will lather less than the body wash you're used to. Natural body washes contain milder detergents, which means smaller, tighter bubbles. Fortunately, these clean you just as well! And a natural body wash should treat your skin even better because it's full of beneficial plant-based ingredients.
Why would I want to use a body oil rather than a lotion?
People with dry skin often prefer body oil to lotion. Oil penetrates skin deeply and helps seal in moisture (see below), and dry skin types immediately notice its plumping and smoothing effects on skin that's normally flaky and uneven. Lotions don't create the same barrier against moisture loss, since they contain less oil and more water.
What is a body butter?
A body butter is basically a thick version of a body oil. It's made up of a combination of plant oils that are solid at room temperature but melt when you rub it on. Body butters moisturize like body oils, so they're great for dry skin, and they can be easier to apply since they're creamy, so many people use them on dry patches like elbows and knees.
Is there a difference between body lotion, body milk, and body cream?
A body cream has more oil than a milk or lotion. Body milk is the lightest option of these three and lotion is slightly thicker than milk.
How often should I use a scrub on my body?
Most of the scrubs we sell are gentle, and can be used every day or every other day, if you're using the right amount of pressure. There's no need to rub hard (you're not cleaning a frying pan!). The scrub should do its work with little to no pressure. If your skin is sensitive, scrub less often.
When is the best time to moisturize my skin?
For the most hydration, apply lotion (or body oil or butter) right after a bath or shower. Pat yourself dry lightly with a towel so skin is still damp, and then put on your desired product. When you moisturize skin that's already moist, it traps that water in your skin, making it look more plump and dewy.
Why don't you sell antiperspirants?
What makes antiperspirants work is aluminum, which natural product manufacturers don't consider to be a safe ingredient. That's why there are no natural antiperspirants, and we don't sell them. Antiperspirants actually prevent the body from sweating, while natural deodorants rely on botanicals to kill bacteria that causes body odor.
Are certain bath products better for certain skin types?
Bath salts are great when you have aches and pains, but they can be drying, so dry skin types should use them sparingly. If you have dry skin, you'll probably prefer bath oil. On the other hand, oily skin types would most likely prefer bath salts. Bath milks are great for all skin types, since they moisturize and have a slight exfoliating effect.
Is it OK to use your bath products in my Jacuzzi tub?
We don't recommend using bath products in a Jacuzzi, but you can check with the individual manufacturers. Weleda says its bath milks are safe for these tubs.
